Buying comics in Portland
Who we buy from in Portland
Short version: Samurai Comix is a comic book buyer that comes to Portland, OR, looks at your comics in person, makes a cash offer based on recent sales, and buys the entire collection the same day. Text COMICS to (559) 326-8337 to start.
Portland has one of the best comic cultures on the West Coast, and some of the deepest personal collections. If you are downsizing or settling an estate in Oregon, we will travel for it and we will take the whole collection.
We buy across Portland, from Sellwood, Hawthorne, Alberta and St. Johns to Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Oregon City, Milwaukie, Clackamas, Gresham, Troutdale, Salem and across the river in Vancouver. Independent and small-press books are a big part of Portland collections and we buy those too.
Portland is our farthest regular stop; we come up for serious collections and combine trips. We serve Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Oregon City, Salem and Vancouver WA, and the rest of Oregon.
What we buy
Collections, singles and individual comics
Entire comic book collections
One long box or a garage full. Inherited collections, estate collections, storage-unit finds. We take all of it, sorted or not.
Key issues and graded comics
First appearances, number ones, famous covers, variants, and CGC or CBCS slabs in any grade. Send a photo of the cover or the label and we will quote it.
Single and individual comics
One book, a short stack, or the handful of Silver Age comics your dad kept in the closet. If it is a comic, we want to see it.

Before you sell
What your comics are worth in Portland
Comic book values do not change by city, but the offers do: a Portland shop prices for its own shelf, an auction house takes a cut of the keys and leaves you the rest, and a mail-in buyer makes you ship first. We price every book against recent sales and buy all of it in one visit. If you want to understand the number before you text us, read how much comic books are worth and how to sell a comic book collection, written by us, with no fluff.
Questions from Portland sellers
Selling comic books in Portland, answered
Do you really come to Portland?
Yes. Portland is our farthest regular stop; we come up for serious collections and combine trips. You never box up or ship anything; we look at the books in person and pay you the same day.
How much are comic books worth in Portland?
The same as anywhere: value depends on the era, the titles, the condition and whether there are key issues. Most of a collection's value is usually in a small number of books. Text us photos of the spines and a few covers and we will give you a straight number, usually within 24 hours. Our guide to how much comic books are worth explains how we price.
Do you buy newer comics, or only old ones?
Both. Most buyers only want books printed before 1980 and leave you with the rest. We buy the whole collection, including modern books, because we have our own outlet for them.
Who buys comic books near me in Portland?
Samurai Comix does. We are a comic book buyer based in Fresno, California that travels to Portland and the rest of Oregon to buy collections in person. Local comic shops will usually buy your key issues; we buy the keys and everything else, in one visit, for cash.
I already have an offer from a comic shop in Portland. Will you beat it?
Send it to us. We will beat it, or we will tell you it is a fair offer and you should take it.
What do I need to do before you come?
Nothing. Do not sort, grade, bag or list anything. Photos of the boxes and any books you think matter are all we need to make an offer. We bring the cash and do the lifting.
